Photo & Video

You pay for a website, maybe ads, maybe someone to post for you, and every one of them keeps asking for the same thing: real photos and video of your business. What you have is a phone snapshot from a few years back and a stock image of a handshake, and no time to become a photographer to fix it.

Black Door Creative has been here since 2005, and the way we approach commercial video production in Rhode Island is simple: shoot where the work happens, a Providence kitchen or a job site, then edit it for the places it will actually live, from the website we build for you to your Instagram and Facebook.

Photo and video is rarely the first thing a business hires us for, but it is usually the piece that makes the rest work. It sits inside the full set of services we run for Rhode Island businesses, and most shoots are planned around something specific: a site launch, a menu change, a new online store, a hiring push.

Scope and pricing

Scope is set by the shot list, not a studio calendar

No price list here on purpose: scope sets the number. We put a fixed proposal in writing before any work starts.

What sets the scope

Where the files will runA homepage video and a month of social clips are different shoots, so the plan starts with what the content is for and how many versions you need.

Length of the shot listThe number of dishes, products, people or rooms decides whether this is a couple of hours or a full day.

LocationsOne dining room in Providence is a simpler day than four job sites across the state.

Video complexityInterviews with sound and a scripted piece take more editing than short social clips.

Why Black Door

Why Rhode Island businesses choose us for photo and video

Since 2005

Twenty plus years in Rhode Island, and most of our clients are still with us.

500+ launched

Websites and campaigns for Rhode Island businesses in nine industries.

5.0 rated

Rated by businesses you can look up, not by us.

Based in Rhode Island

The people you meet are the people doing the work, and they pick up the phone.

We have been making Rhode Island businesses look like themselves since 2005, and after more than 500 websites the shoots follow the sites: menu photography for a Providence restaurant, product photography for a gum brand's online store, media production for an ambulance service, photography for a cannabis retailer. Different rooms, same job: show the real business well enough that a stranger wants in.

We are 5 star rated on Google. As one review puts it, "Rob is incredibly professional, creative, and very hands on." You deal with the person doing the work, before the shoot and after it.

We are based here and we travel, whether that means a dining room in Providence or a shop floor in Cranston. Rhode Island commercial video production is a local job by definition: the shoot only happens if we can get the lights to your kitchen, and we can.

Restaurant Photo & Video

Providence is a restaurant town, and from Federal Hill to Hope Street the fight for a Friday table happens on a phone screen. If the first photo of your food is a dim shot from the pass, the booking goes to the place two doors down with a better one.

We photographed a full menu for one restaurant as part of their website. A menu shoot follows a rhythm your kitchen can live with: plan the list with the chef, plate and shoot each dish in sequence before service, and the dining room opens on time. Then the room and the people, because a regular picks a place partly for who is behind the bar.

Short video does the same job faster: hands, steam, the pour, the room filling up. If you have been searching for a restaurant photographer in Rhode Island, here is the practical version: shoot the dishes you actually want to sell, reshoot when the menu turns, and put the files to work. Restaurants are the largest group in our portfolio, and there is more on our restaurant marketing page.

Video production from plan to final cut.

Video production from plan to final cut

Most commercial video production in Rhode Island does not need a production truck and a six person crew. It needs a plan. We start with what the video is for, a homepage introduction, an ad, a recruiting piece, a walkthrough of the space, then shape the script with you, film on location with proper light and sound, and cut it tight, because the second best thing a video can be is short. For an ambulance service, media production was part of the website work, one project instead of two. A typical shoot is one or two of us, with cameras, lights and proper audio, which covers almost everything a Rhode Island business actually needs and is small enough that your day keeps running while we work.

On location photography at a Rhode Island restaurant

Business photography on location

Every business has its version of the plate coming out of the kitchen: the crew on a job site, the parts coming off a shop floor, the people a client will sit across from, a waiting room that does not look like one. We shoot on location because that is where the proof is.

A business shoot usually covers team portraits in the same light on the same day, so your about page stops looking like five different eras; the premises inside and out; the work itself; and candid frames of the business running, which do the most work on social. For a cannabis retailer, photography and the website were one project, so the pictures and the layout were built for each other. One restaurant had its branding, website and mural art built as one job, and a shoot inside that kind of package is planned to match the brand.

Short form video for social.

Short form video for social

A business that posts a phone clip once a month is not really on Instagram. One shoot at your business produces a batch of clips, vertical, captioned and ready to schedule: behind the scenes, the process, the before and after, a quick answer to a question you get asked every day. None of it needs a script, just you talking about your work the way you would across the counter. If we run your social media, the calendar decides what gets shot, and if the shoot feeds a monthly marketing plan, the plan decides what to shoot next, so nothing is filmed without a place to go.

Website photography

A website built on stock photos looks like every other website built on stock photos. When we design a site, the photography is planned with the layout, the hero image composed for the space it fills and the service pages showing the actual service. The files come back sized and compressed for the web, so a page full of real photos still loads fast, which matters for how the site ranks as much as for how it feels.

Product photography for a Rhode Island food brand

Product photography for online stores

A product photo has one job: make the thing look worth the price before anyone can hold it. For one product brand we shot the photography as part of the ecommerce site build, so the store launched with product pages that read as one brand. A store shoot is stricter than a homepage shoot: every product on the same background, at the same angles, in the same light, so the category page lines up, then a second set with context for the pages and ads where the clean shot is not enough.

Editing, delivery and usage rights.

Editing, delivery and usage rights

Shooting is half the job. Every selected frame is color corrected and retouched where it needs it, every video is cut and graded, and everything is exported in the sizes each use needs, from full resolution masters to web ready versions. Delivery is organized and labeled, so a year from now you can find the one photo you need without emailing us. Turnaround depends on how much we shot and whether video is in the job, so we tell you the date when we book the shoot rather than making you guess.

You own the files, with no license to renew and no per use fee, and the only thing we ask is permission to show the work in our portfolio.

At your business, almost always, because the point is the real place and the real people. Product photography sometimes calls for a controlled setup, and we handle that too. We also have studio space when a shoot calls for a controlled background, which product and portrait work often does.

Yes, and we plan for it during the shoot rather than cropping afterward. Key shots are framed to work wide for your website and vertical for social, and the delivery includes cuts sized for each platform.

Less than you think, because the planning call covers it: the space tidy, the products or dishes chosen, and the right people around wearing what they would normally wear. We send a short prep list before every shoot.

You do. The files are yours to run on your website, social, ads, email and print with no license fee and no expiry. We may ask to show the work in our portfolio, and that is the extent of it.

Yes. We have shot product photography alongside building an ecommerce site, so the pages and the pictures matched from launch. Consistent product photos are one of the clearest signs of a store that can be trusted.

Yes, and most shoots do both. The shot list is built so the stills and the clips come from the same setups, so one day at your business covers the website and the social calendar.

Production and distribution are different jobs, and only one of them got done. A video needs somewhere to run, your homepage and your social calendar at minimum, which is why every video we make is cut for the places it will live.

No. Restaurants are a specialty, but the portfolio includes product work for a gum brand, media production for an ambulance service and photography for a cannabis retailer. If the business is in Rhode Island and has something real to show, we can shoot it.

Organized and labeled, in the sizes each use needs, from full resolution masters to web ready versions. You get a link to a folder you can download from, and the files are yours to keep and store wherever you keep the rest of your business.

No, you reshoot the difference. Seasonal updates are normal, and a short return session keeps the feed and the website honest without repeating the full shoot.
